The local seafood franchise concept is kicking off another year of fundraising, building on close to $300,000 already donated with a month-long benefit-focused blitz.
This September, Shuckin' Shack Oyster Bar, the 18-unit seafood restaurant franchise, is cranking up the volume and bringing some energy. Turn the Tide September is a month-long blitz dedicated to supporting local patients and blood cancer research through a partnership with Blood Cancer United.
"Turn the Tide has become one of the most meaningful things we do as a brand each year," said Jonathan Weathington, CEO of Shuckin' Shack Oyster Bar. "Raising close to $300,000 for Blood Cancer United over the last four years is something our whole system is proud of, and this September we're pushing harder than ever - for our guests, our team members, and the patients this research supports."

At Shuckin' Shack, blood cancer research isn't a line item on the charity sheet. It's deeply personal, hitting close to home for many members of the Shuckin' Shack family, its communities, and even its co-founder, Matt Piccinin. Over the last four years, the Shuckin' Shack family has rallied to raise close to $300,000 for Blood Cancer United, but this year, it's taking the efforts to a whole new level.
"This cause hits close to home for so many people in the Shuckin' Shack family - team members, franchisees, guests who've walked through blood cancer themselves or watched someone they love go through it," said Matt. "That's what's driven us to keep showing up for Blood Cancer United year after year, and why this September we're pushing harder than we ever have."
Throughout the month, the Shack is loaded up with ways to gear up, give back and even win big. Check out the 2026 Turn the Tide apparel and spread the word — Shuck cancer!
Look for donation codes throughout the Shack's locations to contribute directly to Blood Cancer United, and you might win a little something in return, too. Shuckin' Shack is giving away a dream Caribbean getaway, with donations made through the in-Shack qr codes or direct online donations earning entries in a drawing for a six-night stay at a private condo in Cruz Bay, St. John.
The fun goes on all month, but be sure to mark your calendar for the grand finale: One Day, One Cause. On Sept. 26, every Shack across the country will host an unforgettable blowout to cap off the month and celebrate the real change made by the Shuckin' community this month.
