Shrimp 101

From our Sharkbite Shrimp and Shrimp Burgers, to our Fried Shrimp and Steamed Shrimp, there is a special place on our menu for these tasty crustaceans. Where do we get our shrimp from, one might ask? We are proud to serve Wild American Shrimp in each of our locations. Like all seafood offered at The Shack, our shrimp is fresh and caught right off the waters of the United States. They are caught using sustainable practices and are monitored and regulated under The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) Standard Guidelines.

Did you know? According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration:
  • There are more than 1,900 species of shrimp, but less than 20 are important for commercial purposes.
  • Female shrimp can lay between 100,000 and one million eggs at one time.
  • Shrimp can grow about an inch every seven to 10 days.
Marine Science Today recently stated that Americans consume more than a billion pounds of shrimp every year. It’s no wonder that shrimp is one of America’s favorite seafood items! Have you tried ours?
